Jack Osbourne - Mongol Rally

For a man who is accustomed to cruising Sunset Boulevard, sunglasses on, hair swaying gently in the evening LA breeze, it seems like an odd choice of summer vacation. But for Jack Osbourne, this is all he’s really wanted to do for the last three summers – The Mongol Rally. Beginning in London’s Hyde Park and ending in the Mongolian capital Ulan Bator whenever you manage to get there, there are no prizes for being first, no support team, and no cars over 1000cc are allowed. The official rules state that to be eligible, a participating car has to be ‘generally considered as crap’. In this classic buddy roadtrip, Jack takes a thrilling, funny and entertaining journey in his ‘heap of shit’ Fiat Panda with his co-pilot, Jamie – young, good looking and witty - and a convoy of four more pals, including LA girl Amyryllis, chirpy cockney Tommy, Howard the mechanic and Becky from Jack’s series ‘The Recruits’. Together they sneak, bribe, cheat, connive and generally out-wit the world to get themselves to Ulan Bator whilst enduring four weeks of poor, back-breaking suspension, dodgy Russian mechanics, riotous impromptu parties in Kazakhstan and power-crazed Uzbekhistan border officials! In between, Jack throws himself into local adventures, be it spending a night in Castle Dracula or one in a Yak herders tent, and spans a quarter of the landmass of the globe, through places that scarcely have visitors. Over 10,000 miles, through nineteen countries, over five mountain ranges and through two deserts – Jack yet again pushes himself to the limits and beyond. Albeit in a Fiat Panda named ‘Melinda’!
